At least 50 feared dead in Indian bus accident

BHOPAL: At least 17 people were killed and a further 35 feared dead after a passenger bus plunged into a fast-flowing river in central India, police said Thursday. The bus crashed into the river when trying to cross a flooded bridge in the state of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday evening. “The rescue work is ongoing and specialist teams are at the scene searching for bodies washed away by the water,” local inspector general of police Pawan Jain said

Qureshi and partner Rohan Bopanna of India, trying to foster peace between their rival homelands, advanced to the men’’s doubles final Wednesday by beating Argentina’’s Eduardo Schwank and Horacio Zaballos 7-6 (7/5), 6-4. The 16th-seeded duo will face US top seeds Mike and Bob Bryan in Friday’’s championship match, but Qureshi has already booked another title date.

India rural web users to grow 30 pct in 2010 – study

Mumbai (Reuters) – The number of internet users in rural India is forecast to rise 30 percent to 5.4 million in 2010, according to a joint study conducted by the Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and market research firm IMRB.
